Героем дня в социальной сети YouTube в ЮАР стал бегемот из знаменитого парка "Серенгети" на севере Танзании. Это сердобольное животное спасло детенышей антилопы-гну и зебры.

Детеныши, вместе с другими животными, переправлялись через речку Мара. Речка берет начало в соседненй Кении и впадает в озеро Виктория.

Когда начинается сезон дождей, Мара выходит из берегов. Антилопы в это время массово мигрируют. Среди них находился молодняк, которому очень трудно пришлось переплывать реку. К счастью, рядом оказался сочувствующий бегемот, который, вопреки инстинкту отгонять всех от своего владения, начал помогать "юному поколению" переплывать речку.

Мару переплывало около двух тысяч зебр. Добрый бегемот выбрал среди них двух беззащитных малышей сначала антилопы-гну, а затем и зебры.

Огромное животное подставило мощную морду под шею зверенышей и помогло им добраться до противоположного берега. Когда детеныши выбивались из сил и отчаивались, бегемот их подбадривал, слегка покусывая за шеи.
